Now, i’ve got to admit that I have been totally seduced by the rice water movement and thats just because it‘s worked it’s wonders on my hair and skin.
There is no question in my mind that rules out the fact that rice water has not been the common denominator that has taken what was once broken, dry, frizzy, limp and dull looking Afro curly hair to now shiny, defined, moisturised and voluminous curly mass of hair - I am truly amazed.
Some would say that my claims from this YouTube video results https://youtu.be/tceh2uwUgN4 are exaggerated, but quite frankly, most viewers have tried and tested rice water for themselves and have achieved incredible result too.
You see, rice water holds many conditioning benefits for the hair (and for the skin). Just to name a few, take a look at what nutrients and fantastic benefits rice contains:
Amino Acids: the building blocks of the protein that makes up 1/5th of the human body. So, it comes as no surprise that amino acids play an essential role in all our biological processes, one of which happens to be hair growth.
Vitamins B: can help strengthen and condition.
Vitamin C: this is a powerful antioxidant that helps protect against the oxidative stress caused by free radicals.
Vitamin E: helps repair damaged hair follicles, prevent tissue corrosion, and help build tissue. This keeps your follicles healthy and promotes healthy hair growth.
Antioxidants: Antioxidants are true shields that limit skin damage caused by free radicals induced by pollution and sun exposure. When integrated into hair care products, they also help to fight against premature ageing of hair and to preserve the beauty of the hair for a longer time
Inositol: Inositol, also known as vitamin B8, is a part of the B complex family that has a host of possible uses is great for promoting long, healthy natural hair due to it's conditioning properties.
Amino acids present in rice water, in particular, help in the regeneration of hair and aid faster growth of your hair. Also, rice water contains vitamins B, C, and E, which further help in hair growth. The best way to use rice water to grow hair is to apply the rice water to the roots of your hair and massage it in, then following it up with a good quality moisturising butter, cream or oil.
As for the skin, I have challenged rice water to see if the benefits continue - and of course they would because, your scalp is skin. After a very pleasing 10 day challenge applying rice water as a skin toner, I noticed witnessed a noticeable change in the condition of my skin and also resulted in seeing the hyperpigmentation scars fading.
Don't sleep on rice water, when used the correct way, it can product some fantastic results!
